For a long time I lived with the narrative that I was not creative. At school I was told I could not draw and that arts and crafts were not for me. Looking back, I understand why: I have a deep resistance to having to copy something. For me, creativity is not about replicating, but about what lives on the inside.
Much later, during a period of recovery from whiplash and PTSD, I discovered the true power of the paintbrush. Painting was not a hobby then — it was pure necessity. It was the only way to get out of my head and back into my body. It was processing, creation as a path toward healing.
My artistic journey is one of continuous development. For years my process was built around the surprise of cutting. I would work intuitively on large surfaces, then cut the work into small pieces of 10×10 or 10×15 centimetres. That method gave me the ultimate freedom — the whole did not need to make sense. Only when I turned the fragments over did I discover the hidden gems.
In September 2025, a large collage work — my 'AVT' canvas — marked the closing of that phase. Since then, my work is also allowed to remain whole. I have discovered that a passe-partout and a frame do not just finish a work, they give it space to truly be seen. It is a way of taking myself more seriously as an artist.
My current work is a journey of discovery into depth through Mixed Media. I apply countless layers of paint, then sand them back down. As I sand, the underlying colours and textures re-emerge.
This process is a direct reflection of the deep dive I make in my coaching practice. In life we often mask our vulnerable sides. By 'sanding' — by asking deeper questions, by polishing and looking further — we uncover the old layers we once buried. When we dare to reveal those layers at the right moment, the true beauty and essence come forward.
"Removing layers to reveal the depth — that is where my art and my coaching meet."
Outside my studio I love being in nature or behind the turntables. I love movement, laughter, and deep conversations that actually mean something. I am constantly searching for light, joy, and co-creation.
I invite you to wander through my work. Perhaps in the layers of my paintings you will recognise something of your own story.
